I don't believe there is anything in the whole earth that you can't learn in Berlin ...
    ...except the German language.

    Hallo zusammen!
On Monday, my school is hosting an assembly in honor of the fall of the Berlin Wall (a wee bit late) and we're having the Consul General there. Basically, my job is to help a younger student how to thank our guest for his time and expertise (as well as some other things).

And I'm guessing since I need to help him, I need to do it in German. But I'm not entirely too sure on how to say that.

One of my results found this for "Thank you for your time":

Danke, dass Sie sich Zeit genommen haben.

Is that correct? Is there a simplier, yet still polite way of saying this? (Reminder that the younger student I'm teaching this to is not learning German. He/She is merely in a History class)

As for how to thank the Consul for his expertise, I have absolutely no idea how to go about that.

    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

    German humor
    Hello!

I work at an American high school, and I have been asked to help create an assignment on German humor.  I have looked around on the internet and at the library a little bit, but am having a little difficulty finding what I need.  I am looking for school-appropriate sources (print, cartoons, or video) that use different types of humor: satire, irony, situational humor, wordplay, traditional jokes, etc..    I have found a few cartoonists, some stand-up comedians on youtube, and several joke sites, but it is slow going sifting through all of this for school appropriateness and I have no idea what is actually popular in Germany right now, so I thought I would open the question up to the community for some ideas.

    Thank you!

Does anyone know of a German translation of "It's a small world after all" (from the Disneyworld ride)?

I've found French, from the Euro Disney ride, but no German.

Leichte & kurze deutsche Erzählungen, bitte?
    Hello,
I tutor a 13-year-old boy who has learnt German for one year. He's really clever but he doesn't know much yet... Anyway, I want to present some texts to him, too, teach him to read, understand it and hopefully teach some new words, collocations etc.
The problem is that I couldn't find anything suitable. I need something not so difficult (for example, he's not familiar with the past tense!) and not long.
Can anyone help me with this?
    I'd be really grateful!
    Thank you!

So here's how bad I am at geography, I don't even know how many cities call themselves "Kansas City" in the United States.

Anyway, apparently I'll be spending a week in a Kansas City in mid November for a job where I'll be co-engineering some big show for a church event. The schedule makes it look like I might have quite a bit of free time between events, so this time, for the first time, I'm going to do a little homework and see what there's to do around the venue. Maybe there's a cool museum I need to see.

I'f I'll be in this Kansas City, I could drive up to the Berkshire Hathaway headquarters and say hi to Warren Buffett.

    Konjunktiv I
Hallo zusammen!

Does anyone here see any errors in this? I wrote it, but one error lowers your grade 10%!

Einmal hatte Sie keine Blumen in ihrer Vase.

    Hi,

    Is this right:

    Ich bin nicht Student.
Shouldn't it be: Ich bin kein Student?

According to my teacher, when not intending to use ein, you would use nicht and also for sentences like:
Ich bin nicht faul. I understand this one. Otherwise you use kein. Does that make any sense?

Anyway, I don't think I can explain it more than this.

hiii :) :) i need some vocab help--well, somewhat. i forgot my book at school and i need to write a paragraph about someone's birthday.

    so far i have,
Am Freitag hat Lisa Geburtstag. Dann wird sie dreizehn. Sie will ein paar Schulfreunde einladen.

i'm not really sure what else to add, and since this is german I (ololol i know) my vocabulary is slightly limited. i was planing on adding something such as, "Hoffentlich wird sie Mutti einen Kuchen backen." i feel like there's something wrong with that sentence though (aside from the fact that no one really hopes their mom will bake a cake for their birthday anymore) lol.

so basically, i just need suggestions on what else to add. i was also planning on saying something about how she wants to receive a computer as a present, but i'm really not sure as to how i'd go about wording that.

thank you very much in advance! :D
